Today’s show is about the differences between bragging vs visibility. Bragging is defined as a pompous or boastful statement, arrogant talk or manner by someone. Bragging in the workplace often involves an inflated sense of self-importance and a desire to diminish the contributions of others. Authentic visibility, however, celebrates achievements while acknowledging the contributions of colleagues and expressing gratitude for opportunities and support. Being authentic and sharing information is easier than you think and would never be seen as bragging.

Today’s show is about taking the opportunity to build relationships with peers, influencers, your management, and other people in your life. It is a chance to show your value to others which helps you to be recommended for new roles or thought of for opportunities. In these conversations, it is about finding ways to add value to the other person. Make it a win-win. Listen for a way that you can help them. You can offer to help them in various ways that are easy to do. Focus on just being in the moment, and enjoy spending time with people. Go into conversations with curiosity, and be open to being authentic and genuine. That is what helps you build the relationships that people remember so that you stand out from the crowd.

90. Should Leaders Be Liked or Respected?
Today’s show is about being respected vs being liked. For so many leaders, myself included at one point, I thought being liked was more important than anything, especially once I was leading a team. I see so many leaders that I coach who struggle with what they know they need to do, because there is a risk that they will rock the boat. They are afraid it will upset some people if they make a tough decision or choose a path that is difficult even if it is the right thing to do. They second guess themselves even if they believe in the hard decision because of how it may impact the way people feel about them. They focus on external validation for everything instead of trusting themselves. All they can think about is what if everyone is upset? What if I make a mistake with this decision? What if I fail? What is more important for a leader to be….liked or respected?

89. Leadership Assessment
Today’s episode is about assessing yourself and your team if you have one.
When was the last time that you took the opportunity to have a leadership assessment done for you and/or your team? When I start working with new client leaders, I like to give them an assessment to help them understand how they are showing up as leaders, what their motivations and preferences are, look at their strengths and what may be getting in the way of their success. It also helps me understand them since we are just getting started in a coaching partnership. If they have done a recent assessment through their company, we will use that as a starting point.

87. Visibility Can Be Fun
There is a myth that exists that I used to believe for a long time, and I have heard others share with me as well. Visibility is extra work…it’s hard to do…I don’t have time for it.
All those thoughts will be true if that is what you believe. However, what if you looked at visibility in a different way? What if you thought about gaining visibility as something that is easy to do…that it doesn’t add extra time and that it could actually be fun and playful?
Fun can have a positive impact on your personal brand authenticity. When you inject fun and creativity into your personal brand, you are showcasing your personality and values in a unique way. This can help you establish a more authentic and genuine image that people can trust and rely on. Fun can also help you connect with your team, peers and management on a deeper level, which can help you build stronger relationships with them.

Today we are going to talk about self-sabotage. Self-sabotage is a common phenomenon that affects many individuals in various aspects of their lives. It is a pattern of behavior where individuals unknowingly undermine their own success or well-being.
Believe me, I know that being visible can challenge you to step out of your comfort zone. Even when you know that you should be more visible, there is still the worry of making a mistake or failing that holds you back. Fear is so powerful and can take over if you let it. You prevent yourself from taking the actions that you need to do because of that fear, which is also known as self-sabotage.
